Tip 1: Self-Talk Techniques for a Better Day

The way we speak to ourselves shapes how we feel. Often, we’re our own harshest critics. Here are some ways to reframe your self-talk and make your inner dialogue work for you:

For confidence boosts:

  • Talk to yourself like you would a close friend

  • Start with "You've got this" or "Remember when you..."

For staying motivated:

  • Be your own coach. Talk to yourself like you would a student

  • Read Grit* by Angela Duckworth for more on building perseverance

For practicing patience:

  • Speak to yourself with kindness, like you would to a child

  • Use gentle phrases like "Take your time" or "One step at a time"

Tip 2: Find Joy in Simply Being

(Sunday’s tip: Celebrate Your Small Wins Each Day)

We often feel guilty about doing things just for fun. But pure joy is essential for our wellbeing - no productivity strings attached!

How to start:

  1. Set aside 10-30 minutes for something that simply makes you smile

  2. Pick an activity with no goal other than enjoyment:

    • Dance like no one's watching

    • Doodle without purpose

    • Watch birds from your window

    • Write silly poems

  3. Notice how you feel afterward - more relaxed? Energized? Creative?
