Midweek Motivation
Tip 1: Apply the "One In, One Out" Rule
This simple rule helps you prioritize what's truly important. Simply put, whenever you bring something new into your life, you remove something. It helps you avoid clutter, and create space. The result? A more organized, less stressful living environment and life.
Start small: Begin with your wardrobe. Buy a new shirt? Choose one to donate. Start a new activity? Put an old activity on your stop-doing list.
Expand gradually: Apply the rule to books, kitchen gadgets, and commitments.
Make mindful decisions: Before getting something new, ask if it really adds value to your life, knowing it will mean removing something else.
Regularly maintain: Schedule a monthly review to assess what you've gained and what you can let go of.
If you want to go one step further with removing clutter from your life you may like "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up" by Marie Kondo.
Tip 2: Embrace Digital Minimalism
In our tech-heavy world, digital minimalism can boost your mental well-being and focus. This takes ‘Tech-FreeTuesday’ one step further to help you design a more intentional lifestyle, enhancing focus and reducing stress.
Review your digital life: Which apps and services truly add value? Which are just distractions? Remove the distractions.
Set boundaries: Create tech-free times on other days outside your tech-free day, like during meals or before bed.
Replace screen time: Try reading, walking, meditating, or journaling instead.
We recommend reading Cal Newport's ‘Digital Minimalism’ to understand the core ideas and get more information/motivation.
Something Interesting
This week we’ve been exploring mindfulness coloring books. They’re a great way to relax, focus, and practice mindfulness. They’re also perfect for "Tech-Free Tuesday" or anytime you need a break from the screen.
Pick a book: Choose designs you like - mandalas, nature scenes, or inspirational quotes are popular. This is one we think you might enjoy.
Engage fully: Put on soothing background music and focus on the colors, shapes, and patterns. If a thought distracts you, let it come, let it be, and let it go.
Thanks for reading!
With gratitude,
MindfulMornings
