“Always remember you matter, you're important and you are loved, and you bring to this world things no one else can.” - Charlie Mackesy, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse*
"It is not enough to be busy. So are the ants. The question is: What are we busy about?" - Henry David Thoreau
2 Tips
1) Take Time for an Annual Review
Here’s why:
Life moves quickly. Sometimes we're so busy moving forward that we forget to check if we're heading in the right direction. As we approach the new year, we all start thinking about New Year's resolutions and what we want 2025 to look like. At MindfulMornings, we believe that we must look back before we move forward.
That's where an annual review comes in; by pressing pause and looking back, you can make sure you're on the path you want to be.
An annual review helps you spot what's working (and what isn't) in your life
You can celebrate your wins - big and small
You gain clarity about where to focus your energy
It connects your daily habits with your bigger life goals
How to Complete Your Annual Review:
Create the Right Space
Find a quiet morning when your mind is fresh. Grab a warm drink, your favorite pen, and a journal. This is your time to reflect and dream.Get Your Tools Ready
We love using the YearCompass booklet (not an affiliate) - it's free and super helpful! You can download it at YearCompass.com. It helps you complete a year review and set your goals for the year to come.Work through the YearCompass at your own pace
It can take some time to work through the compass, if you have to set aside a couple of mornings to complete it, we highly recommend you do so.
Be honest and kind to yourself as you work through your annual review. Set some big, audacious goals for the year ahead! Think of this review like tending a garden - you're taking time to see what's flourishing, what needs more care, and where you might want to plant new seeds.
2) Turn Your Big Dreams into Small, Achievable Steps
Why:
Once you have completed your annual review and set your big, audacious goals it’s time to break them down. Big goals can feel overwhelming, especially at the start of a new year.
Breaking goals down into smaller steps makes them more manageable and helps keep you motivated. We recommend doing this after completing your YearCompass.
Here's a simple way to break down your goals:
Create Milestone Goals
Split your big goal into smaller chunks. Set 1-3 smaller goals to ensure you stay on track during the year.
Example: Want to meditate more this year? One of your milestone goals might be to be meditating 10 minutes per day by the end of March.
Each milestone should feel challenging but achievable.
Plan Your Daily Tasks
Choose small actions you can do each day that bring you closer to your milestone goals.
For meditating 10 minutes each day by the end of March, your daily task might be to meditate every day for 2 minutes after your morning coffee for all of January.
Once you get to the end of January, your nest step might be to meditate each day for 5 minutes in February, etc.
Be sure to set a specific time and place where you will complete these tasks and write them in your planner or to-do list.
Keep Track and Update
Track your progress by marking meditation days on your calendar or recording daily achievements in your journal.
As you progress toward your milestone goals, continually update your daily tasks to keep yourself on track.
Stay Flexible and Celebrate Small Wins
Some days won't go as planned - that's okay!
Adjust your tasks if they're not working for you.
Celebrate when you achieve a milestone, and notice how it makes you feel.
Progress matters more than perfection.
Remember: Achieving big goals is about taking one step at a time. Start small, stay consistent, and watch your progress grow.
