Midweek Motivation
Tip 1: Sauna Meditation
Combining sauna use with meditation can boost relaxation and improve your sauna experience. Here's how:
Find a guided sauna meditation like this one from Insight Timer: 15 Minute Sauna Meditation
Get your phone and speaker ready. We recommend putting them in a cooler bag with an ice pack to ensure they don’t get damaged by the heat or moisture.
Find a comfortable seat in the sauna and relax into the guided meditation.
If you’re going to a communal sauna, we don’t recommend taking a speaker. Instead, close your eyes and practice deep breathing. Inhale through your nose for four counts, hold for four, then exhale through your mouth for four and repeat as many times as desired.
Tip 2: Use a Decision-Making Framework
On Sunday we talked about replacing decisions with rules to reduce mental clutter. But, if you still feel overwhelmed by your to-do list, you can simplify things with the Eisenhower Matrix! This nifty tool helps you prioritize tasks based on urgency and importance, helping declutter your mind and focus on what truly matters. Here's how it works:
1. Draw a square and divide it into four quadrants as shown below.
2. Sort your tasks into these categories.
3. Focus on the "Urgent and Important" tasks first, then move to ‘Important, Not Urgent.’
4. Delegate or reschedule ‘Urgent, Not Important’ tasks if possible.
5. Consider eliminating tasks in the ‘Not Urgent, Not Important’ category.
Something Interesting
This week, we’re recommending a book we hope you’ll enjoy. ‘Untamed’ by Glennon Doyle.
This memoir chronicles Doyle's journey to self-discovery and living authentically. It's a powerful narrative about breaking free from expectations and finding your inner voice. Here’s the synopsis:
“In her most revealing and powerful memoir yet, the activist, speaker, bestselling author, and “patron saint of female empowerment” (People) explores the joy and peace we discover when we stop striving to meet others’ expectations and start trusting the voice deep within us.”
Thanks for reading!
With gratitude,
