Midweek Motivation
Tip 1: Understanding Your Emotions with the Emotion Wheel
(Sunday’s tip: Be Wary of Feelings Masquerading as Knowledge)
Have you ever struggled to put your feelings into words? The Emotion Wheel is a wonderful tool that can help you identify and find words for your emotions.
You can find an interactive version of the emotion wheel here: Plutchik's Wheel of Emotions: Feelings Wheel
To better understand your emotions, each time you feel a strong emotion, note it down in a notebook or on your phone and include details about your state of mind and any physical sensations.
When you have time, consult the emotion wheel to pinpoint the emotion more accurately. Reflect on what may have triggered it, and use these insights to deepen your awareness and understanding.
Tip 2: "Thank You Economy" Challenge
(Sunday’s tip: Grow What Matters: Simple Ways to Build Better Habits)
As we come into the holiday season one fantastic emotion to focus on and develop is gratitude. Inspired by Gary Vaynerchuk's "The Thank You Economy," this challenge emphasizes the importance of gratitude in nurturing genuine connections.
How to take on the challenge:
Every day for a month, identify someone in your life—a friend, a family member, a colleague, or even a stranger—and thank them in a meaningful way. It might be as simple as thanking them for being in your life.
Mix up your expressions of gratitude. Try giving handwritten notes, heartfelt voice messages, small tokens of appreciation, or public recognition on social media.
This practice not only deepens your relationships but also fosters a thankful spirit that can transform your perspective.
Something Interesting
This week, we're diving into The Untethered Soul by Michael Singer. Perfect for reading a few pages each morning with your tea or coffee. The chapters are short but deeply meaningful, giving you something beautiful to reflect on throughout your day. Below is a short synopsis:
Whether you’re new to self-discovery or a seasoned seeker, this book will transform your relationship with yourself and the world. Drawing on meditation and mindfulness, spiritual teacher Michael A. Singer reveals how expanding consciousness helps us live in the present moment and release painful thoughts and memories, leading to true happiness and self-realization.
