1) Dry Brushing

Why:

Dry brushing is a simple yet powerful ritual that can boost your overall well-being and is an important step in our Ayurveda Morning Routine. It removes dead skin cells, rejuvenating your skin and restoring its natural glow. This practice also:

  • Creates movement, stimulating the body and boosting circulation

  • Gives you more even-toned skin

  • Stimulates the lymphatic system, aiding in detoxification

By helping your body flush out toxins, dry brushing becomes a valuable addition to your morning routine. We recommend dry brushing 2-5 times per week.

How:

  1. Choose the right brush: Start with a natural bristle brush. Look for one with a long handle to help you reach all areas of your body such as this dry brushing set.

  2. Prep your skin: Ensure your skin is completely dry before you begin. Dry brushing is most effective before you shower.

  3. Prep your space: We recommend standing or sitting in the shower, bath, or on a towel as you are brushing off dead skin. You may also like to put on some soothing music.

  4. Start from your feet: Begin at your feet and work your way upward. Use firm, small strokes or move in a circular motion.

  5. Brush towards your heart: Always brush towards the center of your body to promote better circulation. For instance, brush from your feet up to your calves, then from your knees to your hips.

  6. Focus on key areas: Pay extra attention to areas prone to dry skin, such as your elbows and knees. For sensitive skin areas, be extra gentle to avoid irritation. Avoid areas of broken skin.

  7. Include your torso: Brush your torso and back in circular motions.

  8. Be gentle on the neck and face: If you choose to brush your neck and face, use a softer brush and be extremely gentle.

  9. Shower: After dry brushing, hop into the shower to wash away the dead skin cells.

  10. Moisturize: Finish with a nourishing moisturizer or natural oil - such as organic coconut oil or organic sesame oil - to keep your skin hydrated.

With these steps, you can easily add dry brushing to your morning routine nurturing your skin and invigorating your body.

2) Sound Bathing

Why:

Sound bathing, also known as sound healing, uses vibrations to help detox your body and mind. It can:

  • Reduce stress

  • Improve mood

  • Enhance relaxation

This practice taps into the ancient idea that sound can restore balance to our mental, physical, and energetic systems.

How to practice it at home:

  • Prepare your sound: Select a guided sound bath meditation from Insight Timer. You may like to try - Sacral Chakra Tibetan Singing Bowls.

  • Prepare your space and equipment: Choose a quiet, comfortable spot. Remove distractions. You might want to dim the lights or light candles for a calming atmosphere. Grab your headphones or speaker.

  • Get comfortable: Lie down or sit in a comfortable position. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths to center yourself.

  • Immerse yourself in the sound: Start the sound bath and let the frequencies surround you. Focus on the vibrations you feel.

  • Stay present: Try to stay in the moment. If your mind wanders, gently bring your attention back to the sounds.
